Hair Replacements and Women
Hair replacement can also be successfully performed on women. With the development of new technique of Follicular Unit Transplantation many women who were not considered good candidates can now achieve excellent results.
The following situations can be particularly amenable to surgery since the hair loss occurs in relatively localized areas. (This is in contrast to an individual who has thinning throughout the scalp and is not considered a good candidate for surgery).
Receding in the temples and/or frontal hairline

The cause of diffuse (or generalized) loss of scalp hair in women is often more complex than it is in men.
In addition to genetic influences they are more likely to be anemic or low in iron from menstruation or diet. They also undergo more hormone changes due to pregnancy, menopause, birth control pills, and estrogen and progesterone medications.
Other conditions including hormone imbalances, stress, illness, injury and diseases of the scalp can all cause hair loss, as can many medications.
