A New Era In Hair Transplant Technology
We Use Micoscopic Follicular Unit Grafting
In the early years of Hair Transplantation the
use of large grafts resulted in a very unnatural and conspicuous appearance.
Today, with the development of new technique and advanced instrumentation,
results are remarkably natural. Even our patients who chose to wear their
hair combed straight back do so confidently, knowing that their transplanted
hair looks natural.

The latest and most refined technique in hair transplant surgery is known
as Follicular Unit Transplantation, which allows us to create the most natural
appearance possible.
These follicular units are removed from the back and sides of the scalp
in a strip (where they genetically have a longer life than those that were
lost in the thinning or bald areas).

Hair grows naturally from the scalp in structures called follicles, which
are grouped in units containing one to four hairs. Using a stereoscopic
microscope, they are dissected from their bulky surrounding tissue into
individual follicular units.
Then they are transplanted into tiny incisions made in the bald or thinning
areas where they will resume their growth.
Today we can transplant a very large number of grafts in a single session
(up to 2000). This can result in the movement of 4000-5000 hairs, since
the average graft may contain greater than 2 hairs.
Once the transplanted follicles are moved, it takes 3-4 months for the hair
to begin growing. Hair grows on average, about one inch in 2 1/2 months,
so, it takes 6-8 months to really appreciate the result.
Greater thickness can be achieved by having another transplant to fill in
the spaces between the newly transplanted hairs.
