Transplanting of Hair Into Scars

Traditionally, people have been told that hair will not grow in scar tissue. Although scars usually have a reduced blood supply, we have found that in most situations hair will grow quite well. With the use of small grafts, i.e. follicular unit grafting, and wider spaces between the grafts, we can usually be quite successful. The following are different situations where we transplanted grafts into scar tissue.

This man had a thinned, scarred scalp from an old injury and had two transplant surgeries to thicken this area.
