Follicular Unit Grafts
Hairs grow from the scalp in natural groups called follicular units, containing from one to four hairs. Follicular unit grafting involves transplanting or moving these units to the bald or thinning areas.
We begin by taking a thin strip of scalp from the back or sides of the head (the donor area). This denser zone provides follicles that are genetically pre-destined to grow throughout your lifetime.
This new method results in hairlines that are very natural in appearance because we are only transplanting hairs as they naturally grow from the scalp. Furthermore, we can provide patients with excellent results in a single surgery. In men, when surgery is combined with an oral medication (Propecia), the results are often even more dramatic.
